He attended the University of Texas and was a member of Phi Delta Theta fraternity. (Information from his wedding announcement) He also attended Texas Military Academy in Terrell, Texas in 1924. In 1940, he bought the family business. He was to continue operations in the same locations, but was going to remodel the furniture store after the beginning of the year. In 1941 he purchased the Thurlow Weed's funeral home in Austin, Texas, and renamed it Weed-Corley Funeral Home. In later years (1970) his son-in-law Lauren's Fish, Jr. joined the firm. In 1994 Laren's Fish III also joined the business which is now Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home. In 1942 he was residing in Austin, and he was refered to as having been formerly in the furniture business in Mexia.
