Shared note

Ione Taylor says his name is William Ganey. (Letter to Chester McDonald, July 9, 1966)
Benjamin was supposed to be a self-made a pharmacist and then an engineer. He helped to lay water lines to city of Ada. Wanda Hood said her grandmother told of helping him to make his pills. Some were sugar pills for those who thought they were ill but really weren't. She thought he must have been rather sharp, though, to have gotten away with that. She did not really know about his education. (Wanda Hood, e-mail, 15 May 2000, 9:24 PM) There is a chance he was all or part Indian. They lived in Oklahoma.
His grandmother, Elizabeth Burke Gainey, is buried in Honest Ridge Cemetery, near Mexia. (Information from Wanda Hood) On the Honest Ridge Cemetery listings on GenWeb, I find "Ganey Elizabeth G. 10/14/1811 2/26/1888 wf of N. J. Ganey." Could this be the same person. There are no other people named Ganey or Gainey listed in that cemetery.
