Her parents were born in KY also, per the 1920 census. There is another tombstone in the family plot which says Ettie A. / Wife of / J. S. Martin / born / Jan. 25, 1864 / Died / Aug. 29, 1913. This would be her mother according to her death certificate.

Death Certificate:
She was Virginia Elizabeth Kerley, born Jan 4, 1883 in Kentucky, died Aug. 4, 1944 in Chillicothe (Precinct 3), Hardeman County, Texas. Her parents were J. S. Martin born in KY, and Ettie A Vick, born in KY. A. S. Kerley was the informant. She was buried in Chillicothe Cemetery, Aug. 5, 1944. The primary cause of death was coronary thrombosis lasting 24 hours, with a contributory cause of hypertensive heart disease lasting several years and generalized arteriosclerosis also lasting several years.
