He lived in SC, moved to Washington Co, GA in 1790, Jackson Co, GA in 1807, to Conecuh Co, AL in 1819, to Wilcox Co, AL 1820,& later moved to Covington Co, AL. Bounty Land warrant - Sec. 11, Township 3, Range 14, Covington Co. After his second wife died, he lived with his granddaughter, Serena, and her husband John B. Dixon, across the river from Pea Ridge in Covington Co. He was probably buried either in the old Conecuh River Baptist Cemetery or in the Liles Cem. in Pea Ridge. The only known children of John are his 3 sons. Both Sherod and Cassius eventually moved to Pea Ridge where they reared large families. Hampton Liles married and reared a family in Butler County, AL, but apparently moved from south AL. before 1850. John LYLE's name appears on a plaque in the rotunda of the county courthouse, Andalusia, AL. It was placed there by "Old Three Notch Chapter, DAR. SERVICE: He is on the 1841 Census of Pensioners, aged 84, residing in Covington county with John B. Dixon.
