Broyce's note to Chester: "I presume that Rose Ann gave birth to Namon before she married Wm Sanford Sexton. Nevertheless, the Sextons' oldest son Wm...." He was Mulatto, and born before her marriage according to Rafton Davis (reunion, Nashville, TN, June, 2004). He also fathered a son named Nigil Lowery Daniel by his wife's sister. (Information from Richard Morgan, obtained at the family reunion in Greenville, Alabama in 2006). Richard Morgan also said that his wife had two children who had white fathers before her marriage to Namon. He mentioned Earl and a daughter. This may be incorrect since Nahman's World War I registration said he was married at the time the record was signed (5 Jun 1917). No name was given for his wife. He was Nahmon Daniel, aged 30, residing in Bradleyton, AL. He was born 23 Nov 1886 in Bradleyton, AL. His current trade was farming, and he was self-employed (in Bradleyton). He was married. His race was listed as Negro (Caucasian was marked out). He did not claim an exemption. He was medium height and build, and he had brown eyes and black hair. The census records indicate that Namon and Lottie were living as husband and wife in the 1920 census with one son, Earl. The first daughter was Ruth, born after the 1920 census. If this information is correct, they were either living together before they were married at which time the children were born, the children were born outside that relationship, or the information is incorrect. More research needed. It does appear, however, that they were married at the time of the birth. I have found no marriage records for this couple. He is named Nahman Daniel, son of William Berry and Rose A. Sexton in the Alabama death records.
