In 1850, he is living with his grandfather in Butler County, AL and is 13 years of age. (James Daniel, Butler County, AL 1850 census, beat #3, information from Ancestry.com) In 1860 he is in Butler Co, AL. In 1880 he was in Panola Co, TX, a tanner. "... moved to Texas as there are letters from there in his pension file." In 1860 he is one household removed from his mother, and Martha Simmerly, in HH#1723. Also in the 1860 household are Robert Stallings 24, T-23 & E-1 (f). See CEMcD notes, pg 119-M for 1880 where children are called dau, dau, son. It appears that there was only one wife at that time, but the large gap in the children's ages might indicate that there might have been more children... more research needed. He enlisted 13 March 1862 at Greenville by Capt. Glasgow, elected 2nd Lt., Co. H on 1 Sept. 1862. Absent with leave by order of General Longstreet 30 days starting Feb. 1, 1864. He was placed in the Hospital at Greenville, AL and shown as AWOL, but the records were later corrected and he was promoted on June 1, 1864 and transferred to Co K. There is TX correspondence in his files about a pension. The Panola County Masonic records in Panola Co., TX, compiled by Leila B. LaGrone, Carthage, TX, submitted by the East Texas Genealogical Society - originally published in the East Texas Family Records, Feb. 8, No. 2, Summer 1984 by the East Texas Genealogical Society, refers to the death of Bostic Daniel on 1 Sep 1900. The same listing also seems to refer to the death of Theopholis Bostic Daniel, born 4 Aug 1836 in Alabama, died 2 Sep 1900, buried in Bethlehem Cemetery. It said his father was born in Scotland, and his mother in Alabama. It says he married Nannie Fort 12 Dec 1883. The information on this website is different than what it had in 2004, apparently. There is an obvious error in the nationality of his father, and the death dates to not entirely agree, although they are close. The 1900 Census record says that he and Nannie were married for 16 years. The Masonic Death Records give the date of his marriage to Nannie Fort as 12 Dec 1883. They have a daughter born in 1885. His widow, Nannie, filed a petition (#31272) for a pension for his Confederate service (Texas State Library and Archives Commission, www.tsl.state.tx, accessed 25 Aug 2004). Her husband is listed as Daniels, Theophlis Bostwick. Census (those not mentioned above): 1880; Census Place: Precinct 1, Panola, Texas; Roll: T9_1322; Family History Film: 1255322; Page: 202.4000; Enumeration District: 60 1900; Census Place: Justice Precinct 1, Panola, Texas; Roll: T623 1663; Page: 33B; Enumeration District: 64 ----, Thomas B., son, w, m, May 1891, 9, s, TX, AL, AL, att. school 3 mos.
