"Jearaldine (Cawyer Gipson) wrote of 'pleasant days of her childhood and youth in Mercury and Brady. Of starting school at Mercury with Miss Althea Alexander as teacher, and the excitement of Brer Rabbit episodes which Miss Alexander read to her pupils from the Fort Worth Star Telegram each morning....' She was buried in Sudan (?), Texas. Is this really correct since her death certificate said she was buried in Cox Cemetery, near Mercury, Texas. On her death certificate, her parents were J. A. Alexander (born AL) and Mattie Massey (born MS). Mr. J. V. Alexander of 3530 Crenshaw, Ft. Worth was the informant. Census: 1920, McCulloch county, Texas, precinct 5, enum. dist. 162, sheet 4A She is living with her sister Lena in the household of Lena's husband Theo. L.
