She was apparently Mary E. Brown, aged 25, who was living with her step-brother George Washington McQueen in 1870 in Lowndes County, Alabama. She had an estate valued at $1500. There was a son named James aged 3 and another son named William aged 6/12 (born in December). There was also a man named Alexander M., aged 35, born in Alabama living with the family. He was possibly her husband. He was a retail merchant. By 1880 she seems to have remarried, so her Brown husband was apparently deceased by that time. She was aged 34, and she seems to have married Jno. M. Morrison, a planter, aged 28, born in AL. His father was born in Scotland, and his mother was born in SC. Two of his siblings lived with them, Mattie aged 14, and Roddy, a brother, aged 10. Wm. Brown, shown as a step-son, was aged 10. A daughter, M. E. Morrison, aged 4, lived with them. Her son James is not with the family.
