Peggy Strother found the following information at the courthouse in Groesbeck: "On 28 Dec 1913 William Andy Shamblin murdered with malice aforethought one Ben Wells with a gun." He was admitted to Huntsville Penetentiary. He was prisoner number 36862. He was from Limestone County. Under location, the records indicate admittance to Huntsville 14 Dec 1914. Under that, it says Imperial 5 Feb 1915. Under punishments, it indicates a "voluntary surrender." He was pardoned on 23 Dec 1916 by James E. Ferguson (Pa Ferguson), proclamation #14631, dated 23 Dec 1916. "Full."

In the Fort Worth Star Telegram, 11 Nov 1914, his case was listed as having been submitted on brief and oral argument to the Court of Criminal Appeals.

On his death certificate he was William Andy Shamblin, born 5 Jan 1891 in Alabama. He died 29 Mar 1930. The place of death was Shilo RFD #6. He was male, white, and married. His father was W. T. Shamblin, born in Alabama. His mother was M. J. Tibbs, born in Alabama. Jim Shamblin of Mexia was the informant. The cause of death was gunshot wounds. There was no doctor, and no inquest. Internment was 30 Mar 1930, in Shilo Cemetery, Mexia, Texas.

He was killed in the kitchen of the home of his daugther Iris. He was having an argument with her when her husband entered. He wanted to know what they were whispering about, and he then shot Andy three times in the chest. Iris said her father had threatened her in the past and attempted to "coke" her. Brad gave himself up to authorities, and was released on $2000 bail. Iris was Andy's oldest daugther, and she was sixteen at the time. At the time of his death, he lived on the Dock Jackson farm. He was survived by his wife and six children.

His son-in-law was tried in his death. He was Brad Lee Jackson of Shiloh. He was accused of killing his father-in-law during a family dispute. The jury found him not guilty of murder. He had entered a self-defense plea in the trial.
