All through the 125 pages of CEMcD's notes in "The Brown Book" owned, 1991, by SLD's son Hines are additions and corrections on this line. Those pages have not all been retyped but the information is shown in this report. The Florida Account says this line descends from the "brother" Thomas, and since Thomas is carried as a common name with William in the family, it is quite likely, but why then, only three generations later, did this line consider themselves "only distantly related" to the descendants of Theophilus? "La Pine, AL is a small village about 32 miles due south of Montgomery. His early education was obtained at Highland Home College, and he later attended Southern University, Greensboro, and Vanderbilt. His college education was interrupted by his service in WWI. He spent about 18 months in France, and after the war, he was enrolled for a few months at Sorbonne University, Paris France. He returned from France in July 1919, and was discharged as a Lt. in Field Artillery. He immediately made connections with the New York Life Insurance Co. and for 2 or 3 years lived in Montgomery and Birmingham, AL. On 1 Jan 1922, he transferred to Atlanta, GA. There he met his first wife. |
