Shared note

He is buried in Sec. 13.

Shared note

January 6, 1916 he was on a list of Limestone County Students attending the University of Texas. On 5 Jan 1917, he signed a draft registration card that said he was a student at the State University in Austin and stating that he was a medical student. (Note: much of this card is difficult to read)

He is on a list of Maryland Military Men, 1917-18. He was white, residing at 1022 N. Broadway, Baltimore, born in Mexia. He was 22 years 2 months of age. I am uncertain of the meaning of a comment "ERC 1/7/18 pvt, SATC Johns Hopkins Med School 10/11/18, Hon disch 12/10/18." It appears that he was a student at Johns Hopkins Medical School at this time, and enlisted as a private. I am uncertain if he continued his studies while in the service or not. He was honorably discharged later that year.

He is on a list of students in the John Hopkins University circular, Vol. 37. in January 1918. He was William Marcus Corley, Jr., Mexia, Texas, 1022 North B'dway, A.B., University of Texas, 1917, French I

NOTE: The Corley children were living in a home occupied by others as well. The first couple, J. W. Martin and his wife were renting. The Corley children were also listed as renters, with William M. listed as the head. There were several other apparently unrelated people also living with them. Those people are shown in the same household as the Corely family, but they are not listed as renters, although they were all employed.
Corley, W. M. Jr., head, rent, m, w, 22, s, TX, AL, AL, student high school
----, Violet, sister, f, w, 19, TX, AL, AL, student high school
----, Tom, brother, m, ,w 14, s, TX, AL, AL, student
NOTE: There seems to be an error in the employment status of William, since he was previously enrolled in John Hopkins, it appears.
