Note | October 2002 Marriage Book 1, Lowndes County Alabama May 30, 1830 - Feb. 13, 1848 Surnames A - K, this file was contributed and copyrighted by: Carolyn Golowka. "These marriages records were first compiled from "Lowndes Court House," by Mildred Brewer Russell and/or the Lowndes County Historical and Genealogical Society/s newsletters over the years. I then went to the microfilm available through the LDS (Morman) Church Family History Library and compared to the original marriage books. What is here is what was in the marriage books. As with Mrs. Russell's book and the newsletter, there are bound to be mistakes. Check the orighial books on microfilm to make sure of the information." |
Shared note | His birth and death dates are from his grave marker. His first wife's death date is from the Sweetwater PB Church minutes (near Honoraville, AL). After the 1964 typing by CEMcD of his research notes, contact was made with descendants of Wm Eli. The research and notes relating to him are on pages 112 A,B,C, etc. and 119 A,B,C, etc. Only 112 A&B and 119 D&E have been retyped but for the most part the information appears in this draft. From Kitty Wheeler: Prior to 1860 Wm Eli moved his family to Dallas Co., AR. On the 1860 census, we find along with Wm Eli's family, there were other members of his family. His oldest daughter Caroline and her family, Wm. Wells and his bride, Mary Jane, and another daughter, Mary, and her husband and little girl. While in Arkansas, two more children were born. Wm Eli is buried beside his last wife Webby Jane, in a quiet, lovely tree shaded area in Holly Springs Cemetery in Van Zandt County, near Martins Mill, TX.
